Would you buy if the house is two doors away from a drug rehab clinic

I'm due to exchange in two weeks time and it has come to my attention that the property I'm going to purchase has a drug rehab clinic opening two doors away from the property. I'm no longer comfortable with the idea of moving to this property but at the moment it very hard finding a property in our price range. I would like to know if any one has any advice on living next to a drug rehab clinic and what I may expect and also what does it mean for the property value, would it have a major affect on the value?

  • I can only advise you to walk away, it will affect the value.

  • Look for another property. If you are on a tight budget you can't afford the risk.

  • We very nearly put an offer in on that same house. I did some investigating online and discovered this (this agent claimed to know nothing about it). We were immediately put off considering we have a child and one on the way. My uncle did say though that he would be surprised if it stayed open for long due to government cuts etc. if you would still feel safe then maybe it won't be such a bad thing but I knew I wouldn't! It's a shame as, as you say, house prices are crazy and it's hard to find anything. We are now looking at 2 beds as have given up on 3 :(
