Can I buy a house as a foreigner?

I am Canadian citizen can I buy a house in England? What would be the minimum amount for down payment?

  • Sure you can! We have lots of foreign investors over here earning good yields and a safe haven. Someone here will be super happy to service you and even if you don't live in it the value can only go up, especially shortage of housing in the country. A good strategy is to convince your friends and neighbours to buy houses here too, helping to constrict the supply and at worst you can just rent it out for a passive investment with minimal overhead.   • Yes, if you buy outright. It will be difficult for you to obtain a mortgage without a credit history, without paying through the nose. There are rent now buy later schemes available too. Good luck - I am in the same position,
