Do you think estate agents are in danger of going the same way as Blockbusters, Comet and HMV?

  • I think high street agents, like all high street shops are in danger of being muscled out by the online outlets, including cut priced estate agents. I think it is a major problem, you don’t get a face to face with online retailers and only once usually with an online estate agent. We are all promised wonderful things by online and high street agents, often let down by those who are not as honest as they proclaim. If the minority of high street agents keep letting people down, they will repeatedly give all estate agents a bad name. Then people will go to the agent with the lowest fee. Most will think they are all as bad as each other so why pay more? Yes, many will go under, and the online agent will put up their fees and probably teat their customers like passers-by. A horrible thought! But the world is changing fast, and often for the worse.

  • I hope not. Apart from anything else, as a surveyor, where would I collect a key from?
