Looking to move back to the Uk after 6 years. Where's the best place to live ?

After living in the canary Islands for the last 6 years, we think it's time to return to the UK, but don't know where to live. From York origionally, but want somewhere different. Have 2 daughters, 16 & 20, who want to go to college.

  • I recommend London, most excellent to decent universities are found there. Also, you'd be more likely to enjoy an urban and vibrant environment. If countrysides seem more appealing to you, I'd recommend slightly outside London, still nearer to your daughters' universities. Hope that helps.

  • Hi Chelseagirly, It would all depend on what you are looking to spend when you are moving back to the UK. However, if you are looking to move with students, then some of the best places to live can be in the north. Leeds and Manchester, for example, will both offer you decent rental payments (or house prices if you are buying), that are far lower than what you would pay anywhere in the south for similar properties. These cities as well as the likes of Sheffield also have large student populations and good universities, which is good if your daughters are looking to move onto these after going to college, or indeed if they are looking to immerse themselves a bit in the student culture when they are going to college. Many thanks, Scott
