Can a DSS tenant buy a property with inheritance money?

We are looking to inherit a house and wish to buy another with the proceeds, can we do this and even though we accept benefits?

  • I think what you are saying is 'can we move the money from the house we inherit to buy another house without losing our benefits?' You can buy a house if you have enough money. Whether you will still be eligible for benefits or be committing a fraud on the DSS if you continue to draw benefits is a seperate issue. I would be inclined to talk to the benefits people first..

  • If your purchasing the property for cash, then whether you receive benefits or not should not really come into it?
