How much does it cost to update a lease and is the process different?

How much does it cost to update a lease and is the process different or more expensive if i do it at point of purchase or after i have moved in. I'm asking in general and not for a particular property but for the sake of argument say the property has 85 years remaining. If the size of property matters it would be a small two bed flat. Thank you for any help

  • If you move in and stay 2 years you will have a statutory right to a lease extension. This should be fairly cheap for a lease that has over 80 years to run.
