What is the oldest age you can apply for a mortgage?

A lot would depend on what purpose the mortgage is for, but if its for a normal residential purchase then most banks would not want you in retirement with an outstanding mortgage balance unless there was a healthy pension to fund it. This will generally be dependent on each lenders criteria. Some will only go up to the age of retirement, so, dependent on the applicants circumstances may go higher. All will all depend on the individual lender.

Agreed most lenders tend not to be comfortable with an outstanding mortgage past retirement age.
