Chain means rent is payable by seller?

Hello, If I buy a property which has a chain. Then once I've bought the property, does the person who still lives in the house have to pay rent to me?

  • If you are buying a tenanted property then once you own the property the tenant pays you. Unless you use an agent, then sometimes the agent takes the money and then after their fee the rest is paid to you. Or if the tenant is DSS the rent is usually paid directly to the tenant and you need to request the rent, there can be problems with DSS tenants paying their rent.
