Are we too old for a buy to let mortgage?

My husband is 72 this year and I am 64.

  • Hi Galetamarr222, Generally I would caution that it would be very very difficult to get a mortgage at your age because most banks are not likely to give a deposit if they are unlikely to be sure that the recipients can afford to pay it all back. There are, of course, various things to be considered, and it might turn out that it does not all boil down to age. If for example you have a large pension then they would be more likely to offer you one. Similarly, if you have a large amount of money ready for a deposit that brings the loan to value rate, and subsequently the length of the repayment, down, then you would be more likely to be able to get one. I would advise speaking to an adviser to find out all your options. Many thanks, Scott
