Could I get a mortgage?

I had my house repossessed 20 years ago and have a low credit score. Is there any way I could get a mortgage as I am renting now at nearly £500 a month.

  • You're lucky you don't live in the South; we're paying £800 with no prospect of a mortgage!

  • With a low credit score you are unlikely to get a high loan to value mortgage. Meaning you would need a sizeable deposit 40-30% of the property value. It would be worth building your credit using credit cards that you payoff each month. Speak to a mortgage advisor and have them look at your circumstances for a more specific answer. Many are fee free.
