How do you find out if there is any outstanding loans or debt on a property?

When your solicitor does searches they look for second charges, debts and bankruptcy to ensure that you do not inherit any adverse debts which may be lodged at the property you are going to live in.

The tile documents will detail any charges against the property, which can be checked via the land registry websire. Otherwise as Mark details solicitors will check this thoroughly as part of the conveyance process.
