Does converting your garage into a room add value to my property?

If you have off road parking a converted garage would provide an excellent working/living space. We used our 'garage' in Italy as my Music teaching room and it was invaluable. Wish I had a garage to do the same here! So very useful.

These days, most people use their garages for storage or some other purpose other than parking their car. However, if you are looking to convert it, it can be a very good way to add value to a house.
Depending what sort of room you are looking to convert the garage into, it will add a varying level of additional value to the house. For example, turning it into a utility room, while being practical and giving you more space in the main areas of the house, can be useful, will add the lowest amount.
A bedroom can be great, because it gives more scope for families to purchase, and means that you will be able to ask for more when it comes to selling. Likewise, a bathroom, especially in a house which only currently has one, can be among the most significant additions in terms of value.

Yes it should so as long as it can be seen and justified as a bedroom. If it still looks like a garage in some way, then maybe not. However, if the job is done well and when viewed by a prospective buyer they could not tell that it used to be a garage, then it should add value.
