Fixing damp problems?

I have been for a viewing on a property and it was the perfect size/location etc but had a significant damp problem. How much does damp usually cost to fix and should I offer under the asking price/how much under should I offer, to take this into account?

  • You really need to take along a professional to look at the problem, also consider whether the price already reflects the work needed. But in this market, most people start at 10-15% below asking price. An offer is just that, it isn't binding, they can only refuse it.

  • Find out if it's damp or condensation. Remember that damp repairs can affect internal decor so factor this in. You should be able to get a free report from a local contractor.
