Fitting a wood burner, advice?

I am planning to use my existing class one chimney (in a 1900 terraced house) for a small woodburning stove. A sales person tried to sell me a liner for the whole chimney. My understanding was that the existing chimney is still fit for purpose if I have a register plate fitted with the fire flue and a hatch for cleaning, this is perfectly legal Any thoughts/experience of this please?

  • If your chimney is sound, then you don't need to line it. Hope that helps. ;-)
