Cost of two story side extension?

I was so inspired by the last episode of DIY SOS where they did up the existing unfinished extension in Nottingham. This has made me consider buying a house to extend on to, therefore saving me the money of buying a larger house and giving me exactly what I want. How much would an extension cost roughly? I am thinking downstairs games room, utility area and toilet, then upstairs a double bedroom with wow factor en-suite with bath and shower. My uncle, dad and brother in law are qualified tradesmen so could do the bathrooms and internal work but the actual build would be done by a contractor. So really I want to have a rough idea of the costs involved in the build.

  • Keep your eye on the site below 'buildingsherriff' as the cost calculator for extending will be added soon. An extension can cost from 20k upwards depending on size and design. A simple straight forward two up two down side extension would be around 25k - 50k Best thing to do is contact http://www.fmb.org.uk/fab/ and find a trusted builder. Don’t be afraid to shop around, if you can do a lot of the internal work, this will save you a bundle. Good luck.
