Warriner Gardens, Battersea, SW11
I am thinking of putting a loft in my 2 bed, top floor flat. Do you know how much this would cost in Battersea and will it add value? Is it likely to cause problems for planning permission etc? I would really appreciate any advice!

The cost of a loft extension can vary depending on size, contractor, fixtures and fittings and whether you are creating one room or a room and bathroom. A ball park would be circa £40,000 for a room and bathroom with average quality fixtures and fittings. There are other factors that need to be considered such as freeholder permission and whether you own the roof space or just have a right to use under the terms of your lease.

Building your loft should increase the value of your property especially over the long term, in the short term it may only increase by the cost of the project. To get the ball rolling I would suggest an initial meeting with a designer or architect and would recommend James Owen Webster You can also get some further information from the planning portal website listed below.
