Hi there I am interested in buying some attic space which is currently 'shared owned' in the freehold. - How do i know how much to offer for the space? - What legal documents are required? Thanks

  • As much as will induce the owners to sell it. Are you one of the present shared owners? What is it worth to you? What is it worth to anyone else? Can it be used for an extension to your property? Will you get planning/building control approval to use it for your intended purpose? You will require a solicitor, the shared owners will require a different solicitor, and probably a surveyor on both sides too; be prepared to pay all the costs of both parties. If there is a management company then that's another lot of expense.
