Very damp garage, need advice badly

Hi, I've just cleared out my garage after 38 yrs (yeah 38) and have found 2 overhead beams to be completely rotten with damp, i plan to sell up from April 2015, and can't afford to get someone in to fix it, will I still be able to sell it as it is, I'm very worried as I'm in bad health and a pensioner ;-(

  • Anything will sell if the price is right. It's only a garage. You dont say if it is detached or build in to the house. Unless the damp extends to the house I wouldn't worry. If you live somewhere where parking is difficult then a garage is a plus because it implies a private parking space. Or it is space that might be converted to a habitable room. Either way the present condition is not very important.

  • Hi, As long as the price is reflective of the condition of the property, we're sure there will be a buyer out there waiting for a property like your own. It may be best when having an agent appraise your home and provide a valuation that you are upfront in regards to the issues with the garage so that they can take that into account for their pricing. We hope this helps.
