  • Hi Paul, There isn't really a way to put an exact value increase on your property if you are adding a garage, because property prices at the end of the day are just what people are prepared to pay for them. You can ask an agent or a surveyor to estimate what they think a garage could add to your value. However, while it is not exact, it is worth noting that a garage is one thing that can add the most value to a home. This is because it adds security for vehicles, and extra storage space, both of which will be preferable and attract buyers down the line. Many thanks, Scott

  • Hi Paul, That is a hard question as it's not necessarily something that could majorly effect a homes value. On the surface, it is logical to assume that an extension will add significant value to your property, and this is often the case. However, we would urge caution when justifying the cost of improvements versus the expected increase in value. We recently blogged about adding extensions in order to increase property values which you may find interesting - http://www.peterheron.co.uk/news/123/should-we-extend/ However generally adding additional storage to a property will increase the saleability of your home and potentially increase the value but again we would urge caution when justifying the cost of improvements versus the expected increase in value. We hope this helps.
