Most home improvements add some value and the Halifax Home Improvement Survey (2006) said loft conversions represent the best value for money. Loft conversions are normally used to add another bedroom and figures released by the Nationwide showed that adding another bedroom could increase value by up to 11%. Saying that, it very much depends where your house is, the type of conversion and specification. Do your sums before going ahead!

What sort of house do you have and number of bedrooms at present? This will influence whether it is worth to do the loft conversion.

It will depend on the type size and locality of your current property. However loft conversions are one of the most likely improvements you can make where you will add more than the cost of the works you do but do your research as it will depend on the things I list above.
