Where are the lowest house values?
In planning retirement, I want to research the lowest house price areas in the UK with a view to relocate.

If you're looking for some of the lowest house prices in the UK, the latest figures from the Office For National Statistics (ONS) can be found here http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/taxonomy/index.html?nscl=House+Price+Indices with some of the most detailed analysis available.
In general, if you are looking at England alone, the cheaper prices are found in the north of England, with the most expensive being seen in London and the south East.
However, Northern Ireland has also seen some drastic falls in prices over the last few months, with these houses also proving to be cheaper than the UK average and houses can be picked up for relatively low values. Wales tends to also come in with prices that are lower than the whole of the UK as a whole.
The average price of houses in the UK at the moment is £160,879, so generally anything around or below this would be considered to be relatively cheap.
