Where/how can I get a market value for my property back in 2006?

Use the land registry to search for a house price index report for your postcode. Select the 'from' date as the date you bought it and the 'to' date as a month in 2006. divide the price you paid by the index number on the date you bought and then multiply that by the index for your selected month in 2006. This will give a good indication.
