How much does a new house depreciate once you bought it?

I am buying a new house in Portishead and wondering once the sale is completed how much value would be lost if any?

  • The old answer was a lot, new build premiums could be anything from 5-15%, but I have found that buyers are much more aware of new build prices and as such, are no longer willing to pay them. So, honestly, it depends what offer you had accpeted. Most developers will look at taking an offer should the buyer be proceedable. This has reduced the loss that many purchasers have had to swallow in recent years. You should be fine. Plus I hear that wonderful things are happening in Portishead, so where an area has significant growth, property prices normally remain stable (should the market allow it). Hope this helps. Brilliant question by the way!
