How much was my house worth in 2000?

My house - 73 Montclaire Avenue, Blackwood, Caerphilly sold for £110,000 in March. I need to know urgently for tax purposes what its value was in 2000.

  • It´s a difficult one as a lot of the free tools online go back 6/7 years. You can try the Land Registry "Search the price paid dataset" - Google: [Land Registry Open Data Search the price paid dataset] - you should be able to insert your postcode etc. and the system will let you know what comparable properties on your road sold for. All the best.

  • The UK House price index available at the Land Registry goues back to 1995 and there is a back series extending back to 1968. Look up the House Price index for the date the property was sold (March 2016?) and for March 2000. Use the index for whatever type of property is most relevant (eg detached, semi-, flat). Divide 110,000 by the 2016 index and multiply by the 2000 index.
