Part Garage Conversion
I am considering purchasing a three bedroom bungalow but would like to make alterations one of them being part converting the garage to make for an en-suite on the master bedroom. The other is to add an extension onto a bedroom to make a dining come sitting area where a sofa bed could be located to put up occassional guests. I would like to know if by carrying the conversion would de-value the property as the garage would no longer be large enough to garage a car?

Check with a local estate agent to confirm this sort of information.

I agree with above, speak to a local agent, two or three even. They should have a good idea of what will de-value or add value in your area, as they will know what most buyers are looking for. What I would say is if you have good off-road parking for at least two vehicles, a garage isn't always essential for all house purchasers. A single garage tends to get used for storage and perhaps larger living accommodation would be higher on the list for some buyers.
