The price of a 4 storey property in Dartmouth Devon, overlooking the river Dart in 1982.
I need to know what my property in Dartmouth was worth in 1982. It is a 4 storey property with a 40 seater restaurant, kitchen and small yard on the ground floor, 6 bedrooms and a living room above, overlooking the River Dart opposite the lower ferry. I have just sold the property and need to know for capital gains. No one in Dartmouth can help as their records do not go back that far! What we paid for it in 1972 does not help as an 'Act' only came in in 1982.

For this valuation to be usable and accurate you will need to instruct a local surveyor to do a formal valuation as it is today and then work out the percentage increases and decreases through time. Adding a commercial element does make this more challenging and costly! I have attached an interesting residential calculator which you can use to back date some of it. You can find surveyors on the RICS website and then phone around to get the best price. I hope the new owners will allow access still. Good luck it sounds interesting.
