Historical value for 1999

I am trying to find an estimated historical valuation for a property that was left to me and my dad in 1999. Can anybody help me to find the approx value please ?

  • Estimate current value. Then look up the Land Registry house price index for the area in both 1999 and the current index (new values up to Oct 2015 will be published on 28 Nov) Divide current estimate of value by 2015 index number and then multiply result by 1999 index to get the equivalent estimate for 1999.

  • Additional answer. If the property was inherited there should be a valuation for probate. This may be recorded in the Land Registry title document, though such prices are not used or published in the price paid data used by Zoopla etc. Look up the property's title on the Land Registry index and see if it includes prices. Finally, if similar properties in the vicinity were sold in 1999 you could base an estimate on those prices.
