  • Hi Anita116, There can be little doubt that adding solar panels to a house will affect the price of your house and when the time comes to sell, largely because anyone who buys your home will inherit the benefits you gained by adding them to your home in the first place. For example, they will obviously experience cheaper bills if you have added solar PV panels to your roof, and they will also be able to claim back money from the government from selling to the National Grid, depending on what the tariff rate was when you added the panels in the first place. The most attractive will obviously be those installed under the original 43 per kw/h tariff, but all will see a benefit so they will definitely add a value to any home you are looking to sell on. However, there is no hard and fast rule for this, and as they are fixtures as opposed to a part of the structure of the home, it will depend on what price you can negotiate with a buyer more than anything else. Many thanks, Scott

  • Careful Anita, don't buy the panels to increase the value just like don't buy the fancy alloy wheels when you buy the new car. Buy them because you want to. Doubt they will increase the value. Christopher
