How can an house bought in Sept for 65k now be 140k with no modernisation?

I have been doing some research in an house I am considering putting an offer in. The house is up at 140k but I have found out it was sold in Sept 2011 for 65k. There has been no modernisation done, how can this be? Is there anywhere I can find out more?
