How much extra value would having a garden make?

If my house is a converted chapel in a rural hamlet and has no land outside the house and a little walled front space, how much would the value of my property change if I bought a garden area around it to total about a 1/4 acre?

  • Dear Kara894 There really is no scientific process that determines the answer to this question-it's very subjective. However, from what you've described I would suggest “a lot". To change from no garden at all, to about a quarter of an acre is a substantial improvement and will definitely improve the chances of selling in the future. I would invite a chartered surveyor or an estate agent to advise you. If you would like me to advise on a particular agent in your area-just let me know as I have contacts across the UK. My advice? Buy it if you can! Let me know if you need any more advice. Regards-Thomas Morris Estate Agents
