I'm thinking of selling my house.

I have had two estate agents at my property for a valuation. There was a £10,000 difference I do believe? Should i get another quote from another estate agent?

  • It is a good idea to get three valuations. Some agents give high valuations to tempt you onto their books. Others give realistic valuations in order to gain more interest and hopefully sell your home for you. Do look at recent sold prices of similar properties to yours in your street/area, this should give you a more realistic idea of what you might achieve on price. Best of luck.

  • You can look up sold prices yourself on Zoopla, you can look up the currently for sale houses in your local area, you can compare your house to these in terms of size, condition, etc and reach your own conclusions. If you want the valuation for selling purposes, to determine an asking price, remember there's no guarantee that a buyer will buy at 'your' valuation level - they'll get their own survey valuation, and they'll offer you what they think the property is worth; so you may want to consider marketing it at the midpoint between the two valuations you have so far, or determine your own figure.
