The best course of action would be to perform a Land Registry search to find the owner of the property.

As above - a land registry search only costs a few pounds and will show what the owner paid for the property in most cases too...

As long as the property is registered then you will be able to obtain a copy of the title deeds from your local Land Registry office or website. Alternatively you could knock on the door and ask! I’ve posted the link below - they cost £4
