What is the minimum age to rent your first property?

I would like to know how old you have to be to live in a property and pay rent?

  • 16 I think. You will need a guarantor at this age.

  • The above is correct, without a guarantor you need to be at least 18. Some landlords will not rent to under 18's.

  • Can your guarantor be anyone over the age of 18?

  • To answer your question as long as they pass the credit score and know that they are ultimately responsible for the rent being paid, then pretty much anyone can be your guarantor.

  • Hi, You would have to be 16 and have a guarantor in place. or 18 without a guarantor.
