How can I tell if dogs are allowed?
I want to rent a property in the Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire area and I have a dog. How can I tell from the adverts whether or not dogs are allowed?

I would advise that any property you are interested in you offer to have the house professionally cleaned after you have left. Also get letters of reference that your dogs are well behaved, haven’t caused previous damage etc. You can also offer to put down a larger deposit to give the vendor peace of mind to persuade anyone who has stipulated a no pet’s clause. It is also worth while getting friendly with the lettings agent and get them on side so they can recommend you to any landlords and fight your corner, as the vast majority prefer no pets in their property.
