What do agents look at on credit checks?

I was just wondering what lettings agents look for in credit checks. I am looking to rent in Bedford and have no IVAs bankruptcies or CCJs however I do have some late payments on my equifax credit report. Would this affect my chances of renting or is it just CCJs, IVAs and bankruptcies that lettings agents look for?

  • The chances are that you should be fine when it comes to the credit check on a standard tenant reference due to the fact that you have no detrimental credit against your name. However do you know what score you have or what credit category you are in (as detailed by Equifax?).

  • You should be OK. Have you had a free credit check recently?
