Credit check procedures

The estate agent took my details for credit checks three days ago. They have now sent an email to my employer for references does this mean that we have passed the credit check? They have said they cannot give an answer until my employer returns tbe reference.

  • Most agents will typically use an independent company to take up references on any prospective tenants. This 'reference' will consist of the following: Credit check - to ensure that the applicant has no adverse credit Landlord reference - to ensure that their current landlord was happy with them and that paid their rent on time while keeping the property in satisfactory condition throughout the term of the tenancy. Employment reference - to ensure that you are in permanent or contract employment for the term of the tenancy that you or the landlord is proposing and that you meet the rent to income ratio. From what you mentioned it looks like that all that they are waiting for is your employment reference, therefore once this is returned the agent will come back to you. I hope that helps.
