What if made redundant and claiming housing benefit, will landlords accept this?

Unfortunately, when you are claiming housing benefits, it can be notoriously difficult to find a landlord or a letting agent who will accept an application and allow you to take on a tenancy.
This is purely because many have a negative opinion of renting to people who receive this help, even though most are reliable and model tenants.
There are, however, ways that you can combat this, as there are still agents and landlords who will let to those who are on benefits.
One option is to look towards the advanced search on the site, where you can use keywords and seek "DSS accepted" or something similar.
Alternatively, you could think about looking at getting help from the local council, where the housing department will have access to a list of letting agents who deal with DSS tenants.
