Can I rent if I'm named on another rental contract?

I am named on another rental contract with my ex wife. Can I rent a property in my own name or with somebody else??

  • You can enter into another tenancy agreement, but be aware that (depending on the contract) you could be liable for the rent at the other property as well as any new agreement you sign.

  • As the other respondent said, you can but you will still be liable for the rent on the other property. The best situation would be for you to be removed from the other rental agreement. This is easily done but would require the consent of both the landlord and your exwife
