Which neighbourhood to choose and why? Poole/Bournemouth/Dorsret

My family and I are returning to the UK after an extended period of working abroad. We have 2 children under 5 years old. I need to be able to commute to Bournemouth University. I want to find a really good neighbourhood or village to live in where there is a great school - with a good chance of getting a place at the school. Ideally within 30 minutes or less drive from the university. We prefer an older village/neighbourhood rather than a modern housing estate. I'm very wary of choosing an area because I'm not very familiar with Dorset/Bournemouth/Poole. Our price range for renting is 1,500-2,000 pcm is that realistic? I'd be grateful for any suggestions for neighbourhoods? I've looked at Lilliput, Lytchett Matravers, Upton, Corfe Mullen, Broadstone, Oakley, Wimbourne Minster, Ferndown, St Leonards, St Ives... I don't mind living in Bournemouth or Poole either - but which neighbourhoods would you recommend and why? Thank you!

  • Hi Daisy. I don't actually know any of them areas that all well, but! You can find out information such as crime statistics on the Police.co.uk website. You can also find out about School rankings using websites such as education.gov.uk (I'll drop the link below for you) Hope that helps, let me know where you choose in the end! Regards, Jonathan Rolande :-)
