Is there a market for me to let my Cheshire (2hrs train to London) 5 bed exec house during the summer?

The house is a 1920's, private, refurbished house in Little Sutton, Cheshire. Has large garden, hot tub, double Garage. It's 15 mins away from Chester train station which has a 2 hour link to Euston, London and is available during the summer.

  • There will be hundreds of thousands of visitors who will spend one or two days in London for the Olympic games, and then spend some time visiting other attractions the UK has to offer. Many holiday lets across the country are putting their prices up over this period hoping to cash in. But when renting a property so far from London, you won’t see the return those will renting in and around London. But there is nothing stopping you from advertising your property to let over the games, and hoping for the best. With the high prices in London, many will look further afield and travel by public transport. Just be very careful who you rent to and take a large deposit.

  • I live less than 5 miles from an Olympic venue and 35 minutes by train from London. There has been much talk for the last 2 years about letting houses for the Olympics for amazing sums of money... but from talking to people who registered with the specialist agents who set up for this opportunity, my understanding is that the demand hasn't actually materialised. The local agent here wanted £70 to register on his site. I see he still has lots of properties available, even those within walking distance of the Olympic venue. If you want to do a short term let, I suspect you'd be better off contacting local agents to check demand rather than expecting to pick up on London tourism.
