First time renter- help!

Hi, looking for some advice really. I stay in Scotland and after some research I know the rules are slightly different an it's against the law to charge fees etc. What I'm wondering is if a property I liked was available say 2 months down he line then how do I reserve it so to say? Do we pay for any admin costs or checks I'm clueless? I know the first months rent and deposit is due when I actually move in but what about the months before hand? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

  • Hi Fiona, Different Estate Agents do things differently so its best to contact the marking agent. Like most agents, Christopher Dunn Properties will take a holding deposit to secure a property when reference checks are being done.
