  • Hi Lesleykarin, Unfortunately in the current market this is one of the hardest issues to overcome for potential tenants. Landlords are still experiencing a high level of demand at the moment, which means they will always have a high number of people coming to see their properties and looking to take out a tenancy. Because of this, many will opt to turn away from benefits clients because of the perceived risk that they will end up without their rental money in any month because of it being paid by a third party. However, there are steps you can take. Not every landlord or letting agent will be seeking a guarantor, and if you have rented in these conditions in the past, one option available is to take along references from other landlords to show that you have always been able to pay on time in the past. In addition to this, if you are able to, you might want to try paying a larger deposit to the landlord as added security. Your other option is to contact the local council's housing department. This should hold information on landlords and agents who are happy to take on benefits tenants, and it should be happy enough to pass the list on to you to help you out. Many thanks, Scott
