  • You have two options: 1 find a guarantor 2 pay the full amount of your rent (6months plus deposit)

  • Hi ujuju, When it comes to renting through a letting agent, not all of them actually carry out credit checks at all. However, if they do, there are ways to get around a failed check, and it all boils down to proving to them that they will be guaranteed to get their money each month. You can bring them things such as a list of references from former landlords to say that you have always paid your rent on time, for example, or a confirmation from your employer that you are permanently working and have a wage that allows you to afford to rent. However, the most likely way you will get accepted if you have failed a credit check is to either offer a few months rent in advance, if you can afford to, or offer up a guarantors letter. Your guarantor is legally responsible for your rent if you cannot afford to pay, which means that the agent will always get their money paid, and they are more likely to accept as a result. Many thanks, Scott
