Can I rent if I have a bad credit history?

I've just finished studying, have a bad credit score and my garantor rents their house. Is it still possible to rent on my own?

  • Yes, all lettings agents have different criteria in order to pass the referencing process. If you tell them your situation, they will be able to help you. I would also advise speaking to the local council of the area you are looking to move into, as they will have a list of private landlords, who may also be willing to take you on as a tenant. A way to counter-act bad credit history will also be to pay a minimum of 6 months rent in advance, therefore meaning you will not need a guarantor.
