  • Hi aggiebo, Renting with a poor credit rating is certainly something that can be done in the private rented sector. It is important to note first and foremost that there are many letting agents and landlords who do not actually even carry out credit checks on potential tenants. Even if they do though, there are ways to get around the issue and make sure you can still secure yourself a home. One such tactic is to make sure you have a guarantor. This is a person who will be legally responsible for the payment of your rent if you fail to keep up with what you owe. You might also consider paying a larger deposit, or putting down a few months' rent in advance to give the agent a degree of peace of mind, meaning they will be more likely to let you rent their property. Many thanks, Scott
