My flatmate wanted me to pay the bond directly to them, is this legit?

He said the landlord was going to put me on the lease but I never saw any paperwork and am concerned

  You need to contact your Letting Agent/Landlord to check before handing any monies over to your flatmate, the last thing you want is a dispute between you. Good Luck!
