How many people can share a house?

Unrelated friends living in same house, is there a restriction?

  • The main restriction will come from the landlord and how many people they want to occupy their property. There is also the issue that if 3 or more unrelated people share a property (meaning have shared use of the kitchen, etc.) then the property becomes an HMO (Houses in Multiple Occupation) and subject to a whole raft of separate licensing that most landlords will want to avoid.
