Who will rent to us?

Me and my boyfriend want to live together now, only I'm 18 and he is 20. I am scared that we are going to get rejected because of our age. Is there anyway this could be overcome, and would people actually let their property to us?

  • You are legally old enough to take a tenancy however you may find that many landlords and/or agents will have a preconceived idea of how you may conduct yourselves during the tenancy. We have in the past had problems with younger tenants, the usual noisy parties, friends with mopeds outside late at night etc... It is often the neighbours it upsets rather than the landlord who then phone up and complain to the agent/landlord, because they can! You should visit the letting agents and introduce yourselves so they get to know you which will hopefully help to change their idea of what you may be like as a tenant. Would either of your parents act as guarantor? This may give the agent/landlord a little more confidence in letting to you. All the best
