Is rent paid per week or month in the United Kingdom?

It depends on location and type of property. In London and for house shares/student lets nationwide rent is generally advertised as per week. In the rest if the UK it is generally advertised as per calender month.

In London, rents are usually advertised "per week", but agreed and paid "per calendar month (pcm)". I assume this is a local custom.
