Can I customise my Assured Shorthold Tenancy tenancy agreement, I am new to buy to let market, I do not want to be too restrictive on the tenants

I need to know whether, I can customise my Assured shorthold tenancy agreement, I am new to the landlord trade, I want to protect my interest, can I add and change a standard assured shorthold tenancy agreement, you can buy through online and legal offices, I do not want to be too restrictive, and also, if this is possible, what are other suggestions, landlords have in a assured shorthold tenancy agreement to protect the property and them, please help I am new landlord, please give me further advise to protect me and the property ?

  • Try visiting NLA and you can go on their foundation courses. All very useful.

  • Essentially you can put what you want into your AST. You just need to be mindful of unfair clauses, but the only person who will consider them unfair is the judge if it got that far. If you want some help and advice please give us a ring and I will help where I can
